FERNANDO G. ANDRADE

Fernando (Andy) G. Andrade, 84, passed away at home on Friday, October 7, 2022. He was the husband of Joyce (Faria) Andrade. Andy was born in Faial, Azores, to the late Joao Andrade and Maria (Matos) Andrade. 

In addition to his wife, Joyce, he is survived by his son Mark (Lisa) Andrade of Tiverton, RI, daughter Christine Andrade (finance Dominick Marcelli) of Swansea, MA; four grandchildren and eight brothers and sisters and their spouses. He was predeceased by his sister Connie Ferreira.

Andy co-founded RI Mason Contractors, Inc. with his brother Tony Andrade, which was successful for decades and produced many fireplaces, foundations and brick work for residential and commercial clients. Later in his life he contracted as a tile setter at the Newport Navy Base. He worked maintenance at DimanRegional Vo-Tech School until his retirement. 

He enjoyed gardening, tending to grape vines and making wine. Andy also loved travelling with his wife and children visiting Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont as well as extended vacations to Alaska, California, Florida, Hawaii, Las Vegas and his beloved birthplace Praia do Norte on the island of Faial, Azores. 

He loved his wife Joyce and his children Mark and Christine and adored being a “papa” to Tyler, Elizabeth, Rebecca and Megan. He also loved Sophia, his shitzu, who never left his side. With him telling his silly jokes whenever he could, enjoying working in the yard, playing solitaire on his computer not connected to the internet, he truly enjoyed life. He will be sadly missed and touched the hearts of all who knew him.
