Joseph M. Quinn, 77, of Little Compton, RI passed peacefully on October 2, 2022,surrounded by family. He was born on October 10, 1944, in Medford, MA to Joseph and Mary Grace Quinn. Joseph is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Rita (Cleare) Quinn, his son Joseph M. Quinn and his fiancé Dawn of Assonet, MA, his son Daniel Quinn and his wife Lydia of N. Scituate RI, his daughter Colleen Judge and her husband Ed of Northborough, MA, and his grandchildren: Joseph M. (Rocko) Quinn of Assonet, MA, Shannon Judge of Northborough, MA, Brendan Judge of Northborough, MA, and William Quinn of N. Scituate, RI. Joseph is also survived by his brother Steven Quinn and his wife Vera Fajtova of Boston, MA and his sister Carolyn Rufe and her husband Al of Amherst, MA. Joseph is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Joseph, known to everyone by “Joe”, grew up in Somerset, MA. After getting married, he and Rita moved to Fall River. He worked as an educator of English/Latin at BMC Durfee High School in Fall River for more than 30 years. He and Rita bought a home in Little Compton, RI in 1996 and have lived there ever since. Joe loved camping, was an avid scuba diver, enjoyed traveling to Pennsylvania to watch the Little League World Series, and loved spending time with his family and friends. In 1991, he hiked the Appalachian Long Trail while Rita would meet him at stops to bring him clothes and food. Joe lived his best life and enjoyed every second of it. He will be dearly missed.
Family and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday October 7, 2022,at 11:00 AM at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 74 Simmons Road, Little Compton, RI, followed by interment in St. Patricks Cemetery, 2233 Robeson Street, Fall River, MA. Visiting hours 9:00 AM – 10:30 AM, Friday October 7, prior to mass, at Fern Acres Funeral Home, 72 Willow Avenue, Little Compton
