POLLY NEY Obituary

Polly Ann (Clark) Ney passed away, surrounded by family and friends, on Sunday, August 18, 2024. She was born on July 18, 1945 in Newport, RI, the daughter of Leo Charles Clark and Janice (Barker) Clark. She was a resident of Tiverton and Little Compton, RI for the past 50 years.

Polly is survived by her daughter Margaret “Margo” Lindblom and her husband, Rasmus Lindblom and their three children Sebastian, Kajsa and Tora; and her son William “Bill” Ney and his spouse Claude Robinson of North Reading, MA. Polly is also survived by her brother Leo “Peter” Clark of Houston, TX and his wife Trish, and her sister, Pamela Thurlow and her husband Charles “Chip” Thurlow of Cumberland, RI.

Polly was a graduate of East Providence High School in 1963 and the University of Rhode Island in 1967 with a degree in Psychology. She received a Master’s Degree in Finance from Bryant University in 1978. She spent her early career teaching in elementary school before transitioning to higher education, teaching Accounting at both Rhode Island College and Johnson and Wales University.

Polly was a devoted mother and grandmother. Conversations with friends, family and even strangers often revolved around the activities of her children and grandchildren. She was happiest when out in nature and loved to sail in Narragansett Bay but her favorite destination was Nantucket. As a long-time member of the Tiverton Yacht Club, she was active in the sail racing community for many years. Recently she preferred meeting with friends either on the beach or while swimming in the pool. She loved gardening and also was a dedicated genealogy researcher, documenting the extended family history of her ancestors. She had a love of history, was an avid reader and a staple of the Union Public Library in Tiverton.

Visitation will be held on Monday August 26, 2024 from 9:30am to 10:30am at Fern Acres Funeral Home, 72 Willow Ave, Little Compton RI, 02837.
