Rosalie Mary Kelley, 95, of Little Compton, RI, passed away peacefully at home, on December 5, 2024, amidst her loving family and devoted caregivers. She was the beloved wife of late John F. Kelley. Born in Dorchester, MA, daughter of Edith Brown Lyons and George Leo Lyons, she was a resident of Dorchester and a 1946 graduate of Dorchester High School. Her wedding to John F. Kelley was at St. Brendan’s Church in Dorchester. She and her husband moved to Hingham, MA and raised their nine children in Hingham.
With her husband, Rosalie ran a successful construction company, John F. Kelley & Sons for many years in Hingham. She was the company treasurer and did all the administrative work for the company for years. In addition to her role in the company, Rosalie was the mainstay of her large and lively family. Her children and grandchildren and great grandchildren were the love of her life. Rosalie and Jack moved to Little Compton after retirement with great joy and anticipation to join their daughter, Bridget and her husband, Emmett and their growing family: Brendan, Cormac & Kelly Rose. Their days together in Little Compton were full of love and laughter. A daily communicant, she enjoyed her time at St. Catherine of Siena Church for many years.
Her survivors include her children: Karen and James Hibey, John (Jack) F. Kelley Jr, and Tracey, Leo and Jean Kelley, Anthony (Tony) and Susan Kelley, Mary and John J. Roche III, Judith Ann Kelley, Kathryn and W. Richard O’Malley, Bridget and Emmett Hayes, and Melissa and Michael Bryant. She was grandmother to 35 children and great grandmother to 39.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, December 11, 2024 at 10:00 a.m., Saint Catherine of Siena Church, 74 Simmons Road, Little Compton.
