Russell Church Burchard, 79, of Little Compton and Dawsonville, Georgia, passed away peacefully on December 2, 2023 at Charlton Memorial Hospital.He was the loving husband of Cheri(Fitzgerald)Burchard with whom he recently celebrated his 55th wedding anniversary.
Russell was born at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, on June 11, 1944, to the late Roswell and Thelma Burchard.
He attended Woodrow Wilson High School in Washington, D.C. and continued his studies at American University where he majored in Political Science. After serving with the United States Navy (Intelligence Division)during the Vietnam War, Russell earned his masters degree in Urban and Regional Planning at George Washington University.
After the Lord called Russell to ministry, he attended Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary and Virginia Theological Seminary, serving faithfully for over thirty years. Also, Russell has authored three Christian books.
In addition to his loving wife Cheri, he is survived by his daughter Juliette, son Jason and Jason’s wife Hope, as well as four grandchildren: William Ball, Caitlin Ball, Elizabeth Burchard and Anna Burchard. He was predeceased by his brother, Roswell Sayre Burchard.
Russell was a loving and faithful man of integrity and strong moral principles. He is already greatly missed!
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, December 11, 2023 at 10:00 a.m., Saint Catherine of Siena Church, 74 Simmons Road, Little Compton. Interment with military honors, immediately following at Union Cemetery, Little Compton.
In lieu of flowers, contributions to Saint Catherine of Siena’s poor box or the Little Compton Republican Town Committee in Russell’s memory would beappreciated.
