Sarah C. Finnegan, 85, of Little Compton passed away peacefully in her home with her family by her side on Friday, May 3, 2024.
Born in Avon, MA, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Flora (Rogers) Finnegan.
She spent her childhood growing up in a large family including five sisters and three brothers. Sarah attended the Boston School for The Deaf during her grade school years and later graduated from The Perkins School for The Blind in Watertown, MA.
Sarah moved to Little Compton in 1998 to live with her caregiver and friend, Ann Carr. She adopted Ann’s family as her own and continued to live with them until her passing.
Sarah was an amazing woman with a great sense of humor and big heart. She never let her disabilities slow her down. She had a passion for crocheting and sewing and was a talented seamstress. She spent much of her time sewing her own clothes by hand and crocheting beautiful afghans, some of which she donated to woman’s shelters. She loved dining at her favorite restaurants, summer days at South Shore Beach and celebrating the holidays, Christmas, Halloween, St. Patrick’s Day and her birthday among her favorites.
Sarah is survived by Ann Carr, Laurel Carr, Caleb Carr and the entire Carr Family. She leaves behind many dear friends from Open Sky Community Services and Visiting Nurses Home & Hospice, including John, Donna, Shannon, Jane and Rhonda. She was predeceased by Gerald Carr.
Family and friends are welcome to attend a graveside service at Pleasant View Cemetery, Old Stone Church Road, Tiverton, RI on Saturday, June 22, 2024 at 11am. A collation will follow at Bliss Four Corners Congregational Church, 1264 Stafford Road, Tiverton.
